Building a Remote control car is not so tough you are thinking unnecessarily. Simply with the help of few things available in our home we can make a remote control car. Things need to build a remote control car, most often available in our home. If not so, all these parts can easily be found in any nearby electronics device shop.
Before knowing the main procedure let’s introduce some essential things about an RC car. Like, what are the main parts of an RC car, and what is its application?
Parts Of An RC Car:
A remote control car has four main parts
Transmitters- remote control acts as transmitters and it sends the signal.
Receiver- The receiver receives the signals sent from transmitters and it activates the motor as per signal. An antenna and circuit are used as a receiver in the remote control car.
Motors- Motors used to turn the wheel.
Source of Energy- Battery is the source of energy for an RC car. Sometimes batteries are rechargeable and changeable.
Application of Remote Control Vehicles:
• The main application is recreation and is sometimes used to fulfill the customer’s hobby.
• Sometimes remote-controlled cars are used for law enforcement and military purposes
Things You Will Need for Remote Control Car:
Plastic Card Box: It is a transparent clear plastic storage box used to store cards. Cardboard can be used to prepare the homemade remote control car base.
Drilling Machine: The drilling machine needs to drill a hole in the index card box.
DC Motors: DC motors are an electric device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. In remote control, car motors take energy from the battery and convert this energy into mechanical rotation.
Rubber Wheels: Two rubber will run the car upon getting the radio signal from the remote control.
Double-sided sticky Tape: will hold the internal parts in place.
Signal receiver or radio receiver: To receive the signal coming from the remote control.
Remote Control: Remotely will control the car to operate it as per the user’s intention.
How to Make a Remote Control Car by Household Items?
Let’s see the step-by-step process step to make a do-it-yourself RC car using a home item-
Drill two Holes
Use the drilling machine to drill two holes at the lower of your plastic index box. When you are making the hole, please keep the lid of this box open and far from the box. However, each of the holes should be standard in size so that your motor can easily be entered there. To avoid vibration, use a blanket under the index box (it is optional). However, each of the hole sizes might be ¼ inch to 1.8 inches to adjust with the motor entrance.
Mount the Wheels:
Mount the wheels by shafting the threads of the motor through the hole, you just made a while ago. Make sure you have to do it from inside your box. After doing this, you will find your motor is fitted inside the box and the remaining portion (shaft) is poking inside to outside through the holes.
Wire the Batteries:
After you have mounted your motors and wheels, now it turns to solder the wires that come from the motor. Solder the wire to the output of the radio receiver. Connect the positive to the positive end, and negative to the negative end of each wire.
Pack Batteries & Electronics:
When the soldering is finished, place all the battery packs and the electronics inside the box. Secure all those parts using a double-sided sticky tape gum on the place.
Go for the final Assemble and Trail:
The upper portion of your DYI remote car has already been completed. However, now attach the rubber wheels under the protruding shafts. Now your total construction is ready, you can go for the trial now. See check whether your RC car can scoot with the wheels attached underneath or not. Also, do not forget to test whether it can turn left/right or not. If this RC car can give a satisfactory result, you can hand it over to your child to play with this.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
